Factors that May Disqualify you for Long Term Care Insurance

Have you been recommended for surgery, diagnostic testing, special work up, or hospitalization that has not yet been performed?

Do you require the use of dialysis, a respirator, oxygen, or wheelchair, motorized chair, walker or cane other than a single pronged cane?

Within the last six months have you require back or heart surgery?

With the last six months have you had a heart attack?

Have you been recommended for surgery, diagnostic testing, special work up, or hospitalization that has not yet been performed?

Are you currently taking medications? Just because you are on medication, does not mean you cannot be insured.  There are a few medications they can be accepted for Preferred rating.  They most common acceptable medications are a Zantac and Pepcid for indigestion; Premarin and Provera for hormone placement; Crestor for cholesterol control; Synthroid for thyroid disorder, and antihistamines for allergies.

Have you ever been diagnosed or traded for the following?  Alzheimer Disease, Cerebral Palsy, Chronic Brain Syndrome, Memory loss, Senility, Crest Syndrome, Heart transplant, Huntington’s disease, Hydrocephalus, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Mental retardation, Mix connective tissues disease, multiple sclerosis, multiple strokes, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, Poly Cystic kidney disease, Post Polio Syndrome, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Scleroderma, Sclerosing Cholangitis, Spinal Bifida, Systematic lupus or immune deficiency, (eg., AIDS, or AIDS-related complex), TIA’s (or mini strokes), our use of insulin to control diabetes or Any disabling condition not listed above

Are you bedridden or do you require assistance or supervision to perform everyday activities such as walking, cooking, eating, bathing, toileting, dressing, moving in and out of bed or a chair or wheelchair, bowel or bladder control?

Have you ever had any of the following conditions in combination with diabetes? Brittle diabetes, Hemochromatosis, Keratin disease, clotting disorder, insulin use, kidney disorder, neuropathy, pancreatitis, retinopathy, stroke/TIA, vascular disease?

Have you ever had any the following conditions in combination with the use of tobacco? Aneurysms, Asthma, Chronic bronchitis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, clotting disorders, Emphysema, Heart Arrhythmias, heart or vascular disease, respiratory disorders, strokes, TIA’s (mini strokes), vascular disorders.

If you answered “no” to all of the insurability questions it is possible better policy may be offered.

Below are some factors that may affect your rating.

Anemia, arthritis (Rheumatoid or Osteo) requiring prescription medications, asthma, back this orders or vertebrate fractures, cancer or leukemia, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), depression, diabetes, discoid lupus, drug abuse or Alcohol treatment, emphysema, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, glaucoma, heart travel, hepatitis, incontinence, joint replacement, masculine degeneration, Myasthenia Gravis, osteoporosis, seizure disorder, spinal problems, stroke, TIA (transient Ischemic attack) or carotid artery disease, tremors, tumors, ulcerative colitis?

Other factors that may affect your rating but may not disqualify you.
